Probably Cambodian. Very old example, perhaps pre-1800. 23 3/4" total length. The heavy haft was made of slightly tapered hardwood bent to a right angle at the terminal and mounted with a forged iron blade. Pair of decorative scorch marks on each side. Very great aging with an encrusted wood surface and dark patina to the blade. Used throughout Southeast Asia as a tool and weapon. The advantage is that every man is entitled to carry a tool, and using it daily perfects the owner’s skill and confidence.
